I signed a petition a while ago to introduce a .music domain extension, you can do the same here and join the over 700,000 people who have made this the second largest online global petition (Free Tibet being the largest).
So what does that mean for you as a music creator? These days when good domain names are such hot property that the rather ugly domain flipping and even uglier domain squatting industries have popped up. Domain names are big business!
But do the different extensions really mean that much? Obviously in the case of government and education sites they do. But what about .com .org .net names?
Supposedly .com means commercial and .org means non-profit but there are plenty of commercial companies using .org and non-profits using .com.
Will a .music be a worthwhile move for your online identity? What if you’ve already got a well established online presence with an existing domain and lots of Google juice and traffic?
Hmmmm….. dot-funk.music
I like it – I’ll definintely have one if it comes out.
Sign the petition here if you want to see the .music extension become a reality
